Internists from all over the world, colleagues and friends!
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd Prague European Days of Internal Medicine (PEDIM) I would like to cordially welcome you to the “Golden City” of Prague.
As the PEDIM conferences in 2014 and 2016 were so successful and appreciated by so many participants, we have decided to continue the tradition. Our objective for PEDIM 2018 is to move away from the broad spectrum of “all-important internal medicine” and focus on metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. This does not mean that significant news from internal medicine will be ignored as we plan to promote the “Choosing Wisely” initiative. Also the education of young internists will be in the spotlight. The popular “Hot lines and hot topics” in internal medicine presentation will return, and news from intensive care and urgent medicine will be included. Open discussions, the results from our participants' research and posters will enrich the programme.
We believe that the tremendous scientific benefits of plenary lectures, case reports, posters and other presentations will be invaluable.
Allow me to assure you that we have done our utmost to ensure that our conference will be both enlightening and enjoyable. That said, it is virtually impossible to organize such an event without encountering a few minor issues along the way. Should any arise, I do hope you find it in your hearts to overlook them in the presence of our beautiful “City of a Hundred Spires”. Prague has an extraordinary atmosphere that grew out of our incredible history of art, architecture, culture and the tradition of enjoying the finer things in life. I sincerely hope that you avail yourselves of this opportunity to experience the unrivalled ambience of our city.
I express my thanks and appreciation to the medical opinion leaders who have graciously accepted our invitation to join the international organizing committee and advisory board.
We all agree that PEDIM will provide ample evidence to support our endless dedication to the noble discipline of medicine.
I wish all of you a wonderful stay in Prague and I sincerely hope that PEDIM will prove to be an unforgettably stimulating and insightful event for everyone.
